Make a meal of cheese

"Make a Meal of Cheese" is a genuine book published by the Cheese Information Service in 1974 (without the slightest sense of irony).

Unbelievably we are not lying. Both the book and the Cheese Information Board actually exist. Or at least did in 1974. If they do exist now then we would all like to work for them so that we too can say stuff like "cheeses today have all the flavour of a traditional cottage industry cheese and, in addition, a high standard of hygienic production standards which modern techniques afford"- and get paid for it.

Some cheese.

This excellent book charts the history of cheese, details what cheese you will find where in Britain and most importantly contains copious amounts of recipes containing - yes - cheese. Now you too can enjoy the delights of "Quick Chick Cheese Tarlets", "Savoury Stuffed Cheese Apples" and the ever popular "Cheese Crumble". Mouth watering, eh?

A particular favourite of ours is "Cheese Hollow Loaf". Although the recipe only specifies "meat" (we use pork), it can be seen from the photograph used that the "meat" is in fact a processed dog food/turd interior. Also, we suspect that the "cheese" used is in fact 3 inches of a marzipan/snozzle like substance.
